The Literary Film & TV You Need to Stream in April ‹ Literary Hub

Every month, all the major streaming services add a host of newly acquired (or just plain new) shows, movies, and documentaries into their ever-rotating libraries. So what’s a dedicated reader to watch? Well, whatever you want, of course, but the name of this website is Literary Hub, so we sort of have an angle. To that end, here’s a selection of the best (and most enjoyable bad) literary films and TV coming to streaming services this month. Have fun.

Netflix, April 4

Usually, once there’s a perfect adaptation of a novel, there’s really no reason to retread. But you can never have enough Tom Ripley. The Zone of Interest (streaming premiere)
Max, April 5

Literary bona fides: based on The Zone of Interest by Martin Amis (2014)

Upcoming New Video Game Movies and TV Shows: 2024 Release Dates and Beyond

Some may say we are in a renaissance of video game adaptations as we’ve been treated to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, another Sonic the Hedgehog film, and a TV series based on The Last of Us, and will soon be getting adaptations of God of War, Fallout, Ghost of Tsushima, and so many more. The best part? A lot of these look so much better than video game adaptations we’ve gotten in the past, and we’re here to gather all the latest details on the biggest ones in the works.

How many will actually make it through development and see the light of day remains to be seen, and only a fraction of these have actual release dates. But we’re watching these projects, and we’re tracking them!

For the purposes of this list, we classify a “video game movie” as an actual film adaptation of an existing video game, so something like Wreck-It Ralph (which is just a movie about video games) wouldn’t qualify. They don’t have to be faithful adaptations – they just have to be based on a real game.

Every Upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal Movie & TV Show

Summary

  • Gyllenhaal’s fresh interpretation in ‘Road House’ led to critical acclaim, surpassing the original.

  • Working with acclaimed directors like Michael Bay and Guy Ritchie has been rewarding for Gyllenhaal.

  • Gyllenhaal’s upcoming Guy Ritchie project is anticipated to be the most exciting among his upcoming films.

After an excellent performance in the popular new Road House remakes, Jake Gyllenhaal has an exciting batch of upcoming movies and shows to look forward to. In Road House, Gyllenhaal managed to achieve something many movie stars have failed at: successfully reprising a beloved character in a reboot. The late great Patrick Swayze played Dalton in the 1989 classic, yet Gyllenhaal’s fresh interpretation was one of the reasons for the Road House remake’s astounding critical acclaim, which even surpassed the original. With the movie’s widespread success, Gyllenhaal could be at the start of a movie hot streak.

Leading up to Road House, the actor’s movies have been mixed, barely scratching the surface of Jake Gyllenhaal’s best movies. In 2019, he made his superhero film debut, playing the villain Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. He’s returned to family-friendly movies twice since, with the poorly received animated films Spirit Untamed and Strange
